KVH Industries Pte Ltd., Asia-Pacific Headquarters, Singapore

Singapore, a leading international financial district, is also a nexus for commercial shipping, within reach of 13 of the world’s 20 busiest ports. Its own port is one of the top two busiest container ports globally.

Those advantages underscore the reason KVH added a business unit there in 2011 to support the demand for its mini-VSAT Broadbandsm and satellite communications systems and services. Incorporating a state-of-the-art showroom and test center, the facility makes it possible for KVH partners and customers to observe the TracPhone®, TracVision®, and CommBox products in action, and examine possibilities for integrating shipboard applications with KVH’s mini-VSAT Broadband network.

The headquarters reflects KVH’s ongoing strategy to expand its commitment to providing high-quality maritime satellite communications and entertainment solutions for mariners throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Cosmopolitan Island City-state

Singapore, the independent and sovereign democratic island nation, is situated 1⁰N of the Equator at the tip of the Malay peninsula in Southeast Asia. It’s endowed with a multicultural population of 5.8 million packed into a hot, humid, rainy tropical setting over a compact 278 square miles. Secular yet offering an array of religions, world-class art and architecture, nightlife and cuisine, daytime events, even one-of-a-kind shopping, it also ranks as a leading tourist and tradeshow destination. Singapore’s national icon, the mythical Merlion, with the head of a lion and the body of a fish, is ubiquitous in statuary.

All About the Region

The island’s past as a natural crossroads for the sea routes of trading nations is evident in its bustling central business district and its extremely busy port. Today, Singapore has the second largest economy in GDP in Southeast Asia. Changi Airport is one of the top international airports; ground transport favors trains, buses, and cheap taxis over cars. The country ranks high in education, healthcare, life expectancy, quality of life, and personal safety.

Aspects of its colonial and wartime history are preserved in and around the city. While it features some of the world’s most imposing skyscrapers, Singapore also boasts many parks and gardens. For a taste of its east-meets-west vibe, visit the Raffles Hotel, named after British statesman Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, credited as the country’s founder.
